GALLERY PODROOM, call for proposals for the season 2018

Cultural Centre of Belgrade invites you to submit proposals for the exhibition in the gallery PODROOM during 2018. Application to be sent to: kcb@kcb.org.rs. Before submitting your proposal, please read carefully the application guidelines and information regarding the available facilities in the gallery.
We only accept applications sent by mail!
Uncompleted applications and the ones that come after the deadline will not be taken into consideration!
Program expectations and eligibility criteria
Program for 2018 will be focused on the moving images: video, video installations, artists’ films and animation and multimedia installations. Emphasis will be placed on the experimental approach regarding the presentation of work(s). In the year 2018 in the gallery Podroom available are five exhibition slots.
Terms and conditions
∎The proposals can be submitted either by individuals, group or institutions;
∎Open call is not limited to the citizens of the Republic of Serbia. Everybody is eligible in regard to the citizenship;
∎The proposals should be sent in English and/or Serbian;
∎There is possibility that some of the applicants could be invited to participate in group exhibition instead of solo show;
Facilities and other technical information
• 200 m² exhibition space (floor plan and photos)
• Technical equipment and person/team for the installment;
• Pr and design services;
• Institutional support in raising additional exhibition/project funds;
• Possibility of covering post-production costs;
• Other costs covered by the gallery: translation into Serbian/English, printing of the labels and texts for the gallery, accommodation, opening and professional photo documentation;
• Costs of the post (TNT, FEDEX, DHL etc.) depending on the available budget;
• All details of the future collaboration will be defined by special contract;
List of material to be sent
∎ Submitted proposals are limited to a text length of maximum 1 page (approx. 1.800 characters including empty spaces). It should in the concise manner explain exhibition proposal;
∎Visual material should contain link to the video material and/or maximum 10 images (stills, sketches etc.) illustrating the work(s). Images should be jpeg format upload either in PDF or as zip file (MAX 8MB).
∎Short CV(s)
∎All material is to be sent in ONE (1) mail at kcb@kcb.org.rs entitled (subject) „PODROOM 2018“!

Note: do not send catalogues, DVDs, brochures or folders. These extra materials will not be considered.
You will receive an e-mail confirmation of your successful submission.
Please do not call or email to inquire about results. Final results will be emailed to all submitters.
The advisory team will review the applications and pre-select a short list. These pre-selected exhibition projects will be invited to submit a more developed proposal including additional information on the artists, their works, budget and dates for the exhibition.
The final list of accepted proposals will be announced on the site of Cultural Centre of Belgrade www.kcb.org.rs by the end of July 2017.

Advisory team
Mario Margani works in the field of exhibition-making as a curator, writer, and artist with both young and established artists and curators. He lives and works in Berlin and Enna (Italy). He collaborates since 2010 with different project spaces, artists-run spaces, and other cultural institutions. Currently he is co-founding of a new exhibition and residency project, Garage, in his hometown Enna (Sicily) and a temporary space for arts and collective experiments, 8leben, in Berlin.
Zorana Djaković Minniti is coordinator for the international cooperation in the field of visual arts and coordinator of the program of the Podroom gallery in the Cultural Centre of Belgrade.
Aleksandar Jestrović Jamesdin is artist. Graduated from the Belgrade Faculty of Fine Art in 2000, majoring in painting in the class of Professor Čedomir Vasić. 2015 M.A Art in Context at UDK- Berlin. Besides painting and multimedia art he is occupied in basketball. He lives and works in Berlin and Belgrade.
The advisory team is invited by the Cultural Centre of Belgrade to work for one year and is appointed to choose the program for 2018.
Gallery PODROOM opened in September 2012. Program of the new gallery was based on projects, exhibitions and programs that were results of international and regional collaborations and contemporary trends in film, animation and moving images with emphasize on critical thinking of contemporary visual artists and institutions about current context and society. Gallery PODROOM is located on the underground level of the Cultural Centre of Belgrade that is not-for profit, public, multidisciplinary institution founded in 1957 by the City of Belgrade.
